The Ipswich Chiefs took the last of three meetings this week with Topsfield in an extra inning game that was full of excitement. Ipswich jumped out in front early with a one-hopper into the woods from Shoreman.
Topsfield mounted a strong comeback including a base clearing triple from Doug Hittinger but with two outs and a runner on second in the seventh, the Tories were unable to get the big hit as the game went to extra innings.Montecalvo RBI Single.
The Chiefs got a few big hits and were able to hold off the Tories in an 11-9 final. Lane went the distance and picked up a W for the Chiefs.
