The Beverly Giants outdone by Andy Knox and ITL Ipswich Chiefs, 7-3
Andy Knox had three RBIs, helping the Ipswich Chiefs to a 7-3 victory over the Beverly Giants on Friday at Linebrook Field. He singled in the third inning and doubled in the fourth inning.
Will Corkum's seven strikeouts were enough to push Ipswich past Beverly. Corkum allowed two earned runs, seven hits and one walk over seven innings.
Andy Brown racked up two RBIs on two hits for the Beverly Giants. He doubled in the third inning and singled in the seventh inning.
Josh Levesque ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with the loss. He lasted just four innings, walked two, struck out six, and allowed five runs.
The lead stayed with Ipswich after the first, when it scored one run on an RBI single by Dylan Cain.
The Chiefs added three more runs in the bottom of the fourth. Knox's double got things going, bringing home Ahmad Ateyat and Jake Greaney. That was followed up by Nathan Frongillo's single, plating Knox.
It didn't take long for the Chiefs to respond as it scored two runs of its own in the fifth. Ipswich scored on an RBI single by Ateyat and a fielder's choice.
Two runs in the top of the seventh helped the Giants close their deficit to 7-3. An RBI double by Kevin Harutunian and an RBI single by Brown triggered the Beverly Giants' comeback. The Giants' Conor Walsh flew out to end the ballgame.
