Another year down, and another year at the top of all major hitting categories in the ITL for Nate. Nate has been a force in the ITL for many years, and the cornerstone of the Mariners second consecutive championship. Nate will play any infield position and even went to the outfield on several occasions to help team. No matter the position he’s playing that day,Nate never declines at the plate. 2009 may have been his strongest season yet, after just being beaten out in the MVP voting in 2008. Without Nate, the Mariners do not win back to back titles.

CY YOUNG MIKE GIBBON (M/E) -

Reg Season: 11app, 6-2 record, 1.75era, 1.13whip 52inn 55k’s/8bb’s. 3cgs and 1 shutout.

      Postseason: 3app, 3-0 record 1.40era. 0.80whip, 20inn, 18k/2bb. 2cg

Mike was the ace on a tremendous pitching staff, including 2008 Pitcher of Year Steve Stout (6-1 in 2009). When we needed a victory Gibbon was always ready. Unquestionable MVP of the Playoffs going 3-0, including 2-0 in the Championship Series.

Going a combined 9-2 with a 1.65 era and 73k’s/10bb’s in 72 innings for the entire year on the championship team are Pitcher of Year type statistics.

ROOKIE JOE KATIN (ROW) -

      5 Wins, 37 K's, 1.95 ERA

Joe's rookie season was nothing short of outstanding, despite surrendering 11 earned runs in his final 2 starts he still posted a 1.95 ERA and 37 K's. His addition to the Rams pitching staff made a tremendous difference to our season. In his first 6 starts Joe pitched 6 complete games and surrendered no more than 1 earned run in any of those starts posting 2 complete game shutouts along the way. Another player that I never saw argue with a teammate, umpire or opposing player Joe demonstrated the ability and class we would all like to see in any of our players. The fact that I didn't take the ball out of his hand in any of his games until late July speaks volumes about the season that Joe put together. After starting so strong; the way that Joe handled himself after struggling in his final two starts showed a maturity well beyond his 20 years.
