Mariners Come Back for 7-3 Victory Over Giants

The ITL Beverly Giants get on top of the Manchester/Essex Mariners early but can't hang on in 7-3 loss

The ITL Beverly Giants came out firing, but couldn't hang on to the lead, ending up on the losing side of a 7-3 ballgame against the Manchester/Essex Mariners on Friday at Shepard Memorial Dr. Essex MA.

The Manchester/Essex Mariners took the lead in the sixth inning on a two-run error.
It was a good day at the plate for the Manchester/Essex Mariners' Peter Clark. Clark went 2-3, drove in one and scored one run. He singled in the fourth and sixth innings.  Kevin Harutunian had a busy day at the plate, collecting two extra-base hits. He doubled in the first and fourth innings.

Rory Gentile got the win for the Manchester/Essex Mariners. He tossed three innings of shutout ball. He struck out two, walked two and surrendered two hits.

Frankie Messina ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with the loss. He allowed seven runs in two-thirds of an inning, walked one and struck out two.

The top of the first saw the ITL Beverly Giants take an early lead, 3-0. The ITL Beverly Giants caught fire after Kevin Harutunian doubled. Then John Boyle singled, plating Kevin Harutunian. The ITL Beverly Giants added more runs when Brown scored on a groundout by Paul Drinkwater and Boyle scored on an RBI double by Messina.

The Manchester/Essex Mariners stayed on top until the final out after taking the lead in the sixth, scoring seven runs on a two-run error and four singles.

Rowley 14, Topsfield 2

The Rams were able to pick up the win on the road Friday night in Topsfield.  14-2 Final.

Townies Over Generals 6-1

ITL Rockport Townies makes the most of 5 hits in 6-1 victory over ITL Hamilton Generals

ITL Rockport Townies and ITL Hamilton Generals both threatened with rallies, but it was ITL Rockport Townies that eventually took advantage of them in a 6-1 win at Patton Park 43 Asbury St, MA 01982.  ITL Hamilton Generals got six hits compared with just five for ITL Rockport Townies, but ITL Hamilton Generals stranded eight on base.

Jason Vizena went a perfect 2-2 at the dish for ITL Rockport Townies. He doubled in the third inning and singled in the sixth inning.  Tyler Favaloro struck out seven, paving the way for a ITL Rockport Townies win. Favaloro allowed one earned run on six hits and two walks over seven innings.
Larry Torres was charged with the loss. He lasted just 3 1/3 innings, walked three, struck out five, and allowed five runs.

The top of the first saw ITL Rockport Townies take an early lead, 1-0.  In the first inning, ITL Hamilton Generals pushed across its only run of the day on an RBI single by Avon Stewart.
The lead stayed with ITL Rockport Townies after the third, when it scored two runs on an error and an RBI single by Tucker Meredith.

ITL Rockport Townies increased its lead with two runs in the fourth. A wild pitch scored Favaloro for the inning's first run.

Chiefs 0 - Mariners 8

The Manchester/Essex Mariners first-inning burst enough to top ITL Ipswich Chiefs, 8-0 

The Manchester/Essex Mariners beat ITL Ipswich Chiefs 8-0 in seven innings on Tuesday at Shepard Memorial Dr. Essex MA after a six-run explosion in the first inning. 

The Manchester/Essex Mariners scored in the first on an RBI single by Rory Gentile, a groundout by Peter Clark, an error, a single by Bryan Lafata, an RBI single by Caulin Rogers, and an error. 

Gentile racked up two RBIs on two hits for the Manchester/Essex Mariners. 

Nick Hawrylciw shut down the Manchester/Essex Mariners while he was on the mound. Hawrylciw held the Manchester/Essex Mariners hitless over two innings, allowed no earned runs, walked one and struck out one. 

Rusty Tucker got the win for the Manchester/Essex Mariners. He pitched five shutout innings. He struck out 11, walked two and surrendered four hits. 

Jake Greaney couldn't get it done on the rubber for ITL Ipswich Chiefs, taking a loss. He allowed eight runs in three innings, walked two and struck out one.

Mariners 5 Chiefs 2

A wild pitch, scoring Caulin Rogers gave the Manchester/Essex Mariners the lead in the seventh inning, and the ITL Manchester/Essex Mariners hung on to beat Ipswich Chiefs 5-2 on Monday.
Max Nesbit racked up two RBIs on three hits for the Manchester/Essex Mariners. He singled in the first, third, and seventh innings.
Mike Curtis was effective even in defeat, mowing down five the Mariner batters and allowing zero runs.
Peter Clark recorded the win for the Mariners. He allowed one run over two innings. Clark struck out one, walked two and gave up two hits.
Will Corkum took the loss for Chiefs. He lasted just one inning, walked one, struck out two, and allowed four runs.
The top of the first saw the Mariners take an early lead, 1-0. Manchester/Essex caught fire after Mike Cain singled. Then Nesbit singled, plating Mike Cain.
Ipswich quickly matched the Manchester/Essex Mariners' strong inning with a one-run inning of its own in the first. Ipswich scored on an RBI triple by Greg Doucette.
The Manchester/Essex Mariners stayed on top until the final out after taking the lead in the seventh, scoring four runs on an RBI double by Clark and two singles.

The ITL will be trying out a new scoring system this year called GameChanger.  The app is free and fans and players can view live gamecasts and detailed scoring/stat results.  As teams score the games, stats and results will be updated in real time.  The ITL league page can be seen here:

Generals 10, Townies 1

ITL Hamilton Generals score early and often in 10-1 win over ITL Rockport Townies

ITL Hamilton Generals continued to pile up the runs on Sunday, scoring three runs in the seventh inning, on the way to a 10-1 landslide win over ITL Rockport Townies at Evans Field Station Sq. Rockport, MA 01966.
ITL Hamilton Generals scored three runs in the seventh on ITL Hamilton Generals scored in the seventh on an RBI double by Drew Taylor, a groundout by Jeff Brown, and an RBI single by Larry Saggese.
Brown racked up four RBIs on two hits for ITL Hamilton Generals.
Luke Painchaud struck out eight hitters en route to the ITL Hamilton Generals win. Luke Painchaud allowed no earned runs, two hits and one walk over five innings.
Jason Vizena ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with the loss. He allowed six runs in four innings, walked four and struck out four.
ITL Hamilton Generals pushed across three runs in both the second inning and the seventh. In the second, ITL Hamilton Generals scored on a two-run double by Brown, scoring Matt Cook and Taylor.

Beverly - 6, Topsfield - 3

The ITL season started with a great game between Topsfield and Beverly at Cooney Field on Sunday.  Topsfield took an early 3 to 1 lead but by the end of four innings the score was tied at 3.  The score remained tied until the bottom of the sixth inning. 

In the bottom of the 6th Beverly's Eric Messina led off with a double, Conor Clement reached on an error, and Andy Brown reached via walk.  Topsfield then got two outs without letting a runner across.  This brought up John Boyle with two out and the bases still loaded.  Boyle skied one to the base of the wall in centerfield resulting in a 3 run double.  Boyle finished the day 3 for 3 with a HR, 2 doubles, a walk, and 4RBI.

Dan Cashman pitched the final three innings for the win.  Cashman retired all nine batters he faced including four strikeouts.  Luke McDonald was 2 for 4 with a double and an RBI for the home team.

Topsfield's Spencer Aguiar had a no decision allowing 3 runs (2 earned) over 5 innings.  Zack Lamkin took the loss in relief allowing 3 runs, all unearned, in one inning.
