Beverly Giants Takes 5-2 Victory Over Hamilton Generals

Beverly Giants beat Hamilton Generals 5-2 on Wednesday.
  • In the first inning, Beverly Giants got their offense started. An error scored one run for Beverly Giants.
  • Beverly Giants pulled away for good with two runs in the fourth inning. In the fourth Kevin Harutunian singled on a 3-2 count, scoring one run and Conor Walsh singled on a 2-0 count, scoring one run.
  • Dan Cashman took the win for Beverly Giants. He lasted four innings, allowing two hits and two runs while striking out two.  Dan Patrazza and Ricky Johnson entered the game out of the bullpen and helped to close out the game in relief.  Johnson recorded the last three outs to earn the save for Beverly Giants.
  • Ben MacDonald took the loss for Hamilton Generals. He allowed five hits and four runs over four innings, striking out four.
  • Gavin Sparkman went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead Beverly Giants in hits.

Topsfield -7 Rowley - 5

Topsfield scored 6 in the first and made it hold up with a 7-5 win in Rowley Wednesday night. Zach Lampkin went the distance for the win.

Mariners Bounce Back with Win, Combined No-Hitter

Man./Essex Mariners's Three Pitchers Combine In No-Hitter to Defeat Ipswich Chiefs

Man./Essex Mariners defeated Ipswich Chiefs 11-0 on Tuesday, as three pitchers teamed up to throw a no-hitter. Peter Clark to get the last out of the game. Man./Essex Mariners fired up the offense in the first inning, when Rory Gentile homered on a 0-2 count, scoring two runs.

Man./Essex Mariners scored five runs in the third inning. Man./Essex Mariners big bats were led by Paul Crehan and Alex Ray, who all drove in runs.  Rusty Tucker took the win for Man./Essex Mariners. He allowed zero hits and zero runs over five innings, striking out 14 and walking one. Clark and Ryan Marques entered the game out of the bullpen and helped to close out the game in relief.

Alex Morris took the loss for Ipswich Chiefs. He allowed six hits and eight runs over three innings, striking out two and walking one.  Man./Essex Mariners socked one home run on the day. Gentile had a long ball in the first inning.  Man./Essex Mariners totaled nine hits. Tucker and Gentile each managed multiple hits for Man./Essex Mariners. Tucker led Man./Essex Mariners with three hits in four at bats. Man./Essex Mariners was sure-handed and didn't commit a single error. Crehan made the most plays with 13.

Rowley at Topsfield 6/1 Postponed

Due to a field conflict Friday night's Rowley at Topsfield game will be rescheduled. Date TBA.

Mariners 2, Chiefs 8

Early Lead for Ipswich Chiefs Sets Stage for Victory Over Man./Essex Mariners

An early lead helped Ipswich Chiefs defeat Man./Essex Mariners 8-2 on Monday. Ipswich Chiefs scored on a walk by Chas Rousseau, a single by Sam Blizard, and a single by Dan Frey in the second inning. Ipswich Chiefs pulled away for good with four runs in the second inning. In the second Rousseau drew a walk, scoring one run, Blizard singled on a 0-1 count, scoring one run, and Frey singled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring two runs.

Jake Greaney led the Ipswich Chiefs to victory on the hill. He allowed three hits and one run over five innings, striking out two. Jay Galoski threw two innings in relief out of the bullpen. Galoski recorded the last six outs to earn the save for Ipswich Chiefs.

Marc Phinney took the loss for Man./Essex Mariners. He lasted three innings, allowing four hits and five runs while striking out two.  Frey went 3-for-4 at the plate to lead Ipswich Chiefs in hits.  Man./Essex Mariners was sure-handed in the field and didn't commit a single error. Mike Cain had the most chances in the field with five.

Topsfield Defeats Beverly - 23-14

The dust has yet to settle for this opening day slug-fest.  Details coming.  Topsfield (1-0) earns the win on the road over Beverly (0-1).

Generals 7, Townies 6

Rockport Townies Fight Back in Loss to Hamilton Generals

Rockport Townies (0-1) fought back after falling down by four runs in the fifth inning. The comeback fell just short though, in a 7-6 defeat to Hamilton Generals (1-0) on Sunday. Rockport Townies scored four runs in the failed comeback on a single by Kyle Nelson in the sixth, a walk by Keady Segel in the seventh, and a fielder's choice by Nelson in the seventh.  The Generals were able to fend off the comeback earning a tough win at Evans Field.

Rockport Townies fell behind early in the loss. Hamilton Generals scored on an error during Harrison O'Brien's at bat and a sacrifice fly by Mark Ruggiero in the first inning. Hamilton Generals got things started in the first inning when an error scored one run for Hamilton Generals.

Hamilton Generals scored three runs in the fifth inning. Ruggiero and Pete Duval each drove in runs during the inning.  Luke Painchaud was credited with the victory for Hamilton Generals. He surrendered four runs on seven hits over five and two-thirds innings, striking out five and walking one. Jake Lanciani threw one and one-third innings in relief out of the bullpen. Lanciani recorded the last four outs to earn the save for Hamilton Generals.

Derek Osmond took the loss for Rockport Townies. He lasted four innings, allowing ten hits and six runs while striking out two and walking zero.  Rockport Townies racked up eight hits in the game. Segel and Nelson all managed multiple hits for Rockport Townies. Nelson and Segel each collected two hits to lead Rockport Townies.  Hamilton Generals totaled 12 hits in the game. Ruggiero, Lanciani, and Duval all managed multiple hits for Hamilton Generals.
