Rams-8, Tories-1 (Friday Night)

The Rams beat the Tories 8-1 Friday night behind 5 strong innings from Joe Katin(5 Inn, 2H,3BB, 9k's, 0R). Offensively for Rowley; Silva(2 RBI), Thibault, Luisi and Mcelroy(3RBI) all had 2 hit games. For the Tories, Lamkin went the distance on the mound striking out 3 while Dyer(3B, RBI), Hatfield and Travers each had hits.

Mariners 6 Townies 3

The Manchester/Essex Mariners picked up their first win of the season against the Rockport Townies by a score of 6-3 on Sunday night at Evans Field in Rockport. Brandon Bell started for the Mariners and pitched 4 2/3 innings to pick up the win. Dylan Maki threw the last 2 1/3 innings scoreless while not allowing a hit to earn the save.

Caulin Rogers (3B, 2 RBI), Rory Gentile (2B, HR, 3 RBI) and Brett Cahill all had 2 hits for the Mariners. The Townies were led by Brent Currier (1B, HR, 2 RBI).

Rowley - 7, Beverly - 5

The Beverly Giants (1-2) led 5 to 3 after 5 innings but the Rowley Rams (3-0) scored three in the 6th and one in the 7th for the win. Josh Silva was 3 for 3 with 3 runs scored to lead the Rams offense. Adam Cuka (sp?) allowed 5 runs in 5 innings for the win. Mike Sloban pitched a scoreless 7th for the save. For Beverly, Kevin Harutunian was 3 for 4 with a HR and 2RBI.

Make-Up Game

Manchester/Essex will host Ipswich next Wednesday, June 1st in a make-up game. 5:45pm start.

Rockport 4 Hamilton 2

Rockport earned a first week split against the Generals with a 4-2 at Patton Park. A close game throughout was won by the opportunistic Townies. The Generals had their chances but came up a bit short. Rouell got the win for Rockport, Sharon the save. Funchion picked up the loss for the Generals.

The Generals got on the board first with a RBI single from Mark Potter in the 2nd. Townies tied the game in the 3rd on a Brent Currier single that plated Anderson. In the 5th Robertson delivered a 2-out 2-run single to give the Townies the lead 3-1. They added one more in the 6th, again delivering a 2-out hit that scored a run, Anderson got that hit. In the bottom of the 7th the Generals threatened again but couldn't come up with the big hit they needed all game. Ruggiero got an RBI single to cut the lead to 4-2. With one out and the bases loaded Sharon was able to get the last two outs with no further damage.

The Townies scored all their runs with 2-outs while the Generals stranded 12 runners leaving the bases loaded in the 2nd, 5th, & 7th. That was the story of the game.

Rowley - 9, Topsfield -0

Rowley won their season opener 9-0 over Topsfield behind 5 shutout innings from Mike Sloban and 2 more from Nick Liguori in relief. The two teams meet again Friday night in Topsfield.

Rockport - 15, Beverly - 8

The Rockport Townies (2-1) defeated the Beverly Giants (1-1) by the score of 15 to 8 in 5 innings. Mike Emerson earned the win and reached base four times via walk. Brent Currier recorded the last 5 outs of the game. Matt Sharon was 2 for 4 with 2RBI. Derek Osmond was 2 for 3 with an RBI. For Beverly, Conor Walsh was 2 for 3 with an RBI and Paul Drinkwater had a two run double.

Hamilton 9 Rockport 2

The Hamilton Generals took down the Townies by a score of 9-2 on a damp night at Evans Field in Rockport. Luke Painchaud pitched a complete game, 2-hit gem to earn the win. D. Osmond was charged with the loss.

The Generals struck first in the top of the first with an RBI double by Vitale that reached the right field trees. The Generals extended the lead to 7-0 through the top of the fifth inning. Maloney delivered a 2-run HR in the third. Ruggiero had a RBI single in the 5th that was followed by an O'Leary 3-run HR.

The Townies touched up Painchaud a bit in the bottom of the fifth. Emerson led of the bottom half with a solo HR. Later Junker scored on a fielder's choice. In the seventh the Generals added two more runs to complete the scoring. Painchaud finished the job to earn the complete game win. Emerson and Junker had the hits for the Townies. The Generals were led by Provost, Maloney, & Vitale who all had 2 hits apiece. The two teams meet again this Thursday at Patton Park but not before the Townies travel to Beverly tonight for their 3rd game in 3 days to start the season.

Beverly - 9, Topsfield - 1

The Beverly Giants opened up the season with a 9 to 1 win over the Topsfield Tories. Rocky Pisa allowed 1 run over 6 innings while striking out 5 to earn the victory. John Boyle's 3 run homerun paced the offense. Nick Adams was 2 for 4 with 2RBI and 2 runs scored. Zack Lampkin was charged with the loss on the mound and was 2 for 3 with a run scored at the plate.

Alumni Game Called...

The alumni game scheduled for this Saturday has been canceled. Due to the weather this week the field is no longer available due to condition, and the High School teams will get first option for any make-up games.

The opening game between Rockport and Manchester/Essex is still on for a 4pm start. We hope you will still be able to attend to help us kick off another ITL season!

HOLLYWOOD, CA –April 22, 2011

Radical Media and a major corporate sponsor are teaming up with award-winning
Producer Evan Weinstein (“The Amazing Race”) to create an exciting new reality
show offering some lucky pitchers the chance to pitch with a major league team.

We’re looking for skilled, non-Major League Baseball (MLB) - affiliated pitchers
who have the ability to compete at the highest level but who, for one reason or
another, were never able to pursue their dreams of a professional career. We’re
going to choose a handful of lucky pitchers, provide them with pro coaching and
mentorship, and film them as they test their skills in a series of exciting
challenges.

One lucky winner will get to experience the thrill of pitching in a major league
stadium.

All qualified applicants must be over the age of 21 as of May 30, 2011.
