Manchester / Essex Mariners Secure Win Against Hamilton Generals

Manchester / Essex Mariners topped Hamilton Generals 7-4 on Tuesday at Memorial Park.
Hamilton Generals got on the board in the second inning after Tim O'Leary singled, scoring one run.
Manchester / Essex Mariners jumped into the lead in the bottom of the second when Cory Burnham singled, scoring two runs, and Caulin Rogers lined out, scoring one run.
Galen Clark-Goldfeld doubled to center field, which helped Hamilton Generals tie the game at three in the top of the third.
Manchester / Essex Mariners took the lead in the bottom of the fourth. Jack Cooke induced Thomas Connors to hit into a fielder's choice, but one run scored, to give Manchester / Essex Mariners the edge, 4-3.
Cooke led things off on the hill for Hamilton Generals. The starting pitcher gave up two hits and four runs (two earned) over four innings, striking out four and walking two. Zack Abbott (5ip 3r win) and Kellan Heaney (2ip 1r Save) pitched for Manchester / Essex Mariners.
Burnham, the number nine hitter for Manchester / Essex Mariners, led the way with two runs batted in. The right-handed hitter went 1-for-2 on the day. Burnham and Matt McKenna each collected one hit for Manchester / Essex Mariners. Connors, Burnham, Cory McCollum, and McKenna each stole multiple bases for Manchester / Essex Mariners. Manchester / Essex Mariners ran wild on the base paths, collecting 11 stolen bases for the game.
Clark-Goldfeld provided pop in the middle of the lineup, and led Hamilton Generals with two runs batted in. The catcher went 2-for-3 on the day.
Manchester / Essex Mariners will travel to Hamilton Generals for their next game on Thursday.

A washed out opening day double-header was made up Sunday afternoon at Cooney Field. Beverly and Rowley split with the Giants picking up an 8-4 win in Game 1. Rowley returned the favor in Game 2 holding on for a 3-2 win.
Rockport's comeback falls short as Hamilton wins 6-4 at Evans Field on June 22. Next Townies game is Tuesday July 1st @Hamilton at Patton Park 5:45p
The Mariners beat the Rams in Rowley 2 to 0.

Townies win 11-4 over the Chiefs Monday June 16 at Bialek Park in Ipswich with the bats of Warren Adams and Charlie MacDowell leading the way to move to 4-2-1 on the season. Townies next game is Sunday June 22nd, 6p, home at Evans Field vs Hamilton.
Rockport wins 7-3 over Rowley Wed 6/11 at Eiras Park to move to 3-2-1 for the season. Next Townies game is at the Ipswich Chiefs Monday 6/16 at 5:45p at Bialek Park.
The Giants came storming back from a 9 to 4 deficit but the Mariners held on 9 to 8. Luke Macdonald hit a home run for Beverly. Tom Connors had big hits for the Mariners and Zack Abbot got the win.
The Generals visited Bialek Park Monday night and came away with a 6-1 victory. Thursday's rematch will be rescheduled due to a field conflict. Make-Up TBD.

Due to field conditions in Beverly, the Giants and Mariners will now be played in Essex tonight at 5pm.
Beverly bounced back from a 9-8 home opening loss Sunday night and won the re-match at Ipswich just a day later. Beverly scored 4 in the first and never looked back. Three different Beverly pitchers combined to get the win, 9-1.

The Ipswich Chiefs held on to pick up the win Sunday at Cooney - 9-8. The Giants would strand the equalizing run at 2nd base in the bottom of the 7th. A tough battle that came up just short.
