 Manchester / Essex Mariners Defeat Ipswich Chiefs

Manchester / Essex Mariners took down Ipswich Chiefs 8-5 on Tuesday at Memorial Park.


Ipswich Chiefs jumped out to the lead in the top of the first inning after Drew Lane doubled, scoring two runs, and Jack Vierra grounded out, scoring one run.


Manchester / Essex Mariners made the score 4-3 in the bottom of the first after Harry Painter tripled, scoring two runs, Troy Flood singled, scoring one run, and Mike Quill singled, scoring one run.


A dropped third strike, a steal of home by Kevin McKenna, and a double by Caulin Rogers helped Manchester / Essex Mariners extend their early lead in the third.


Zack Abbott earned the win for Manchester / Essex Mariners. The starter surrendered four hits and two runs over four and two-thirds innings, striking out five and walking one. Ellis took the loss for Ipswich Chiefs. The starting pitcher went two innings, allowing four runs on five hits, striking out one and walking two. Brett Moore threw one inning of shutout ball for Manchester / Essex Mariners in relief. The hurler surrendered zero hits, striking out none and walking none.

Manchester / Essex Mariners's three pitchers didn't allow a single hit, as Manchester / Essex Mariners defeated Ipswich Chiefs 2-1 on Monday at Bialek Park. Harry Painter, Charlie Rousmaniere, and Kellan Heaney all appeared for Manchester / Essex Mariners. Rousmaniere struck out Hawley to get the last out of the game.


The pitching was strong on both sides. Manchester / Essex Mariners pitchers struck out 15, while Ipswich Chiefs sat down six.
