ITL General George Jermyn Passes Away at 80

George A. Jermyn, 80

Beverly — George A. Jermyn 80, beloved husband of the late Eleanor (Cannon) Jermyn, died on Sunday, February 16, 2014, following a brief illness, at the Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers, surrounded by his family.
Born and raised in Beverly, he was the son of the late Alfred and Winifred (Burns) Jermyn.
An honorably discharged veteran, he served his country during the Korean Conflict as a member of the U.S. Army.
Mr. Jermyn had been employed for many years as a letter carrier for the United States Postal Service in the city of Beverly, until the time of his retirement.
Surviving him are two daughters, Susan Hirschfield and her husband, Brian, of Haverhill, and Sheri Walsh and her husband, Dana, of Peabody; a son, Peter Jermyn of Salem; four grandchildren, Lindsay and Kevin Hirschfield, and Bryan Walsh and Jeremy Jermyn; thee great grandchildren; a brother, Neal Jermyn and his wife, Lucy, of Ipswich; a sister-in-law, Peggy Jermyn of Hamilton; and many nieces and nephews. He was also the father of the late Scott Jermyn, and brother of the late Clifton Jermyn and Lee Roderic Jermyn.

ARRANGEMENTS: Funeral services will be held at the Memorial United Methodist Church, 2 Dane St., Beverly, on Thursday, at 10 a.m. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Visiting hours at the Campbell–Lee, Moody, Russell Funeral Home, 9 Dane Street, downtown location, will be on Wednesday, from 4 to 7 p.m. Burial will be in the North Beverly Cemetery.
