"We are saddened to report the passing of a legend and founding father of the North Shore Baseball Umpires Association, Fred Gardner, after a period of failing health. A multi-sport official and assigner, Fred touched the lives of countless people from all walks of life. He always had time to help newer members along with an encouraging word, laced with his understated humor. Truly, one of a kind who will be remembered fondly by all who knew him. Arrangements are incomplete at this time."
