Topsfield Tories 1 - Rowley Rams 9
The Rowley Rams celebrated their return to Eiras Field with a 9-1 win over Topsfield. Matt Wile pitched 7 innings allowing 1 unearned run while striking out 11. Dan Tomasz and Dan Knight led the offense for the Rams with 2 hits and 2 RBI each. Tomasz also added 2 stolen bases. The rematch is scheduled for Friday night at Proctor

Hamilton - 9, Beverly - 3
The Hamilton Generals (1-1) beat the Beverly Giants (1-1) by the score of 9 to 3 Wednesday night at Cooney Field. Chris Judd pitched a 7 inning complete game with 9 strikeouts earning the victory. The General offense was led by Mark Provost and Brian Vitale who each had two hits and knocked in two runs apiece. Judd Funchion also added two hits.
For Beverly, Nick Adams was 3 for 4 to pace the offense. Derek Scialdone, Jeff Giannino, and Matt O'Brien contributed with two hits apiece.
The Generals host Rockport on Thursday. Beverly faces Rowley Sunday.

Different night, same result as the Ipswich Chiefs were able to hold off the Mariners 5-3. Dave Doucette got the win, pitched 6 innings giving up 1 earned run. Chris Lane pitched the 7th inning and gave up 2 unearned runs. Ryan Marques got the loss for the Mariners after pitching 4 1/3 innings, Colin Ahearn pitched 2 1/3, Bryan Lafata pitched the last 1/3 of an inning. The game did mark the return of ITL baseball to Essex after more than 5 years. The Chiefs take an early season lead in the standings with a 2-0 record.

Hamilton 1 - Rockport 4
Hamilton and Rockport opened their 2007 season at Evans Field with the ITL defending champions picking up where they left off with a 4-1 victory.
Rockport got all the runs they needed in the bottom of the second with 3 runs scoring on 4 bleeding singles and a walk. Spittle hit a 1 out blooper to start it off, then Greel walked. Bertolino then sliced one down the first base line to drive in the first run. The backbreaker came with 2 outs; Silva hit an infield single up the middle scoring the second run and then Robertson drove in the last run of the inning with a base hit off the pitcher's hand. The Generals came right back with a run of their own, with Jim Maloney reaching on an error and an RBI double by Mark Provost. Rockport would score once more in the bottom of the fourth without the benefit of a hit. Adam Orlando earned the victory by scattering 4 hits, issuing no walks and striking out 9, while Judd Funchion pitched well in defeat giving up 5 hits in 5 innings, with 2 walks and 2 strikeouts. Jeff Jensen pitched the sixth with 3 strikeouts. The Generals (0-1) look forward to a rematch with the Rockport Townies (1-0) in their home opener Thursday night at Patton Park, but must first travel to Cooney Field Wednesday night to take on the Beverly Giants (1-0).
Topsfield 2 - Beverly 13
The Beverly Giants started out the season with a 13 to 2 win over the Topsfield Tories. Beverly used 5 pitchers allowing only 1 hit, but issuing 8 walks and allowing 3 runners to reach via error in an ugly opening game. Luke Deschamps earned the win with two scoreless innings. Bob Anderson finished the game with two shutout innings.
Beverly's offense rapped out 11 hits on the night. Mike Freni was 2 for 3 with a triple and 2RBI. Nick Adams added two doubles and knocked in two. Jeff Gianinno homered and walked twice in his ITL debut.
The Giants (1-0) take on the Hamilton Generals (0-1) Wednesday night at Cooney Field in Beverly. The Tories (0-1) travel to Rowley (0-0) on Wednesday.
