Hamilton 1 - Rockport 4

Hamilton and Rockport opened their 2007 season at Evans Field with the ITL defending champions picking up where they left off with a 4-1 victory.
Rockport got all the runs they needed in the bottom of the second with 3 runs scoring on 4 bleeding singles and a walk. Spittle hit a 1 out blooper to start it off, then Greel walked. Bertolino then sliced one down the first base line to drive in the first run. The backbreaker came with 2 outs; Silva hit an infield single up the middle scoring the second run and then Robertson drove in the last run of the inning with a base hit off the pitcher's hand. The Generals came right back with a run of their own, with Jim Maloney reaching on an error and an RBI double by Mark Provost. Rockport would score once more in the bottom of the fourth without the benefit of a hit. Adam Orlando earned the victory by scattering 4 hits, issuing no walks and striking out 9, while Judd Funchion pitched well in defeat giving up 5 hits in 5 innings, with 2 walks and 2 strikeouts. Jeff Jensen pitched the sixth with 3 strikeouts. The Generals (0-1) look forward to a rematch with the Rockport Townies (1-0) in their home opener Thursday night at Patton Park, but must first travel to Cooney Field Wednesday night to take on the Beverly Giants (1-0).
