Early lead not enough for ITL Topsfield Tories, drop 6-2 decision to the Beverly Giants
The Topsfield Tories jumped out to an early lead, but were unable to hold on and lost 6-2 to the Beverly Giants on Wednesday.
While Topsfield led until the fourth inning, the Beverly Giants worked their way back and took the lead on an RBI single by Scott Caradonna.
Dan Cashman looked sharp on the rubber. The Tories managed just three hits off of Cashman, who allowed one earned run, walked three and struck out four during his 5 1/3 innings of work.
It was a good day at the plate for Topsfield's Andrew Heath. Andrew Heath went 2-3 and scored one run. He tripled in the second inning and singled in the sixth inning.
Zack Lamkin was the game's losing pitcher. He allowed six runs in seven innings, walked two and struck out seven.
The top of the first saw the Beverly Giants take an early lead, 1-0. A double by Josh Levesque, bringing home Conor Walsh started the scoring.
The Tories tied the game in the second on a passed ball that scored Andrew Heath.
The game was never in doubt after the fourth, as the Beverly Giants scored four runs on a fielder's choice and two singles.
