Early Lead For Man./Essex Mariners Seals Fate For Hamilton Generals

Hamilton Generals fell behind early and couldn't come back in a 6-2 loss to Man./Essex Mariners on Thursday. Man./Essex Mariners scored on a double by Adam Philpott in the first inning and a groundout by Ian Buckley in the second inning.

Man./Essex Mariners got things moving in the first inning, when Philpott doubled on a 1-0 count, scoring one run.

Ryan Marques earned the victory on the mound for Man./Essex Mariners. He went four innings, allowing one run on four hits, striking out four and walking zero.

Lee Drinkwater took the loss for Hamilton Generals. He went three innings, allowing three runs on two hits and striking out three.

Larry Saggese went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead Hamilton Generals in hits.  Philpott led Man./Essex Mariners with three hits in four at bats. Man./Essex Mariners stole five bases during the game as two players stole more than one. Rory Gentile led the way with two.
