Man./Essex Mariners Beats Hamilton Generals in Low-Scoring Affair
Both teams were strong on the mound Tuesday, but Man./Essex Mariners defeated Hamilton Generals 3-1. Rusty Tucker allowed just one hits to Hamilton Generals. 

In the second inning, Man./Essex Mariners got their offense started. An error scored one run for Man./Essex Mariners. Tucker led the Man./Essex Mariners to victory on the pitcher's mound. The fireballer went six and two-thirds innings, allowing one run on one hit, striking out 13 and walking one. Jake Lanciani took the loss for Hamilton Generals. Lanciani surrendered two runs on four hits over three innings, striking out one.

Early Lead For Hamilton Generals Seals Fate For Beverly Giants

Beverly Giants fell behind early and couldn't come back in a 4-1 loss to Hamilton Generals on Sunday. Hamilton Generals scored on a single by Nick Freni and an error in the first inning.  Hamilton Generals got things started in the first inning when Aidan Cann singled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring one run. 

Paul Horgan was credited with the victory for Hamilton Generals. The fireballer allowed three hits and zero runs over five innings, striking out nine. Cann threw two innings in relief out of the bullpen. Cann recorded the last six outs to earn the save for Hamilton Generals. 

Browm went 2-for-2 at the plate to lead Beverly Giants in hits.  Hamilton Generals totaled eight hits in the game. Cann and Freni all managed multiple hits for Hamilton Generals. Cann led Hamilton Generals with three hits in four at bats.

Hamilton Generals wins contest against Ipswich Chiefs on Thursday, 6-3 

Hamilton Generals fired up the offense in the first inning. Ryan Hutchinson drew a walk, scoring one run.
Sal Guarino pitched Hamilton Generals to victory. Guarino went five innings, allowing three runs on three hits, striking out six and walking one. Hutchinson threw two innings in relief out of the bullpen. 

Hutchinson recorded the last six outs to earn the save for Hamilton Generals. Evan Stein took the loss for Ipswich Chiefs. The hurler went six innings, allowing six runs on seven hits and striking out two.  Hutchinson led Hamilton Generals with two hits in three at bats.

George A. "Mike" Singer - Ipswich Chiefs ITL HOF

George A. "Mike" Singer

November 18, 1929 - June 5, 2022

Ipswich - George A. "Mike" Singer, 92, passed peacefully on Sunday, June 5, 2022. Mike was born in Ipswich on November 18, 1929, the youngest of six children born to John and Mabel Singer. A graduate of Ipswich High School class of 1947, Mike married Clara Belanger on his 21st birthday in 1950. Mike played baseball in the Brooklyn Dodgers organization before and after his Army service during the Korean Conflict.

During many of his adult years, Mike played baseball for the Ipswich Chiefs and softball with the Over 30 Softball League. When his playing days ended, his love of the game led him to years of umpiring baseball and then softball well into his 70s.
Mike ran the family business John A. Singer and Sons with his brother John until his retirement in 1988 after which he and Clara spent a number of years wintering in Stuart, Florida, where they made many dear friends. After Clara's passing in 2001, Mike moved to and enjoyed living at Cable Gardens in Ipswich until earlier this year. Mike had a community of close friends at Cable Gardens who showed him great kindness and support as he sought to maintain his independence.

Mike was a lifelong communicant of St. Joseph's/Our Lady of Hope Church. He was a longstanding member of VFW Post 1093 and the Knights of Columbus. Mike was inducted into to Ipswich High School Hall of Fame in 2015 for football, basketball, and baseball.

Mike is survived by his two daughters Deborah Singer of Stoughton, Susan Singer of Salem who provided loving care to him over the past 18 months; and his son Michael Singer of Amesbury. He is also survived by his granddaughter Kacey Houston Walker and her husband Jacob Walker; grandson Geoffrey Ferguson and the apple of his eye; great-grandson Theodore "Teddy" Walker. Mike leaves behind nieces, nephews, and countless devoted friends.
Mike was predeceased by his wife of 51 years, Clara; his siblings Roland, Bertha, Kathleen, Virginia and John; brothers and sisters-in-law and sidekicks Charlie and Claire DeGrandpre.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, June 11, at 10 a.m., at Our Lady of Hope Church, 54 Linebrook Road, Ipswich. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to visiting hours on Friday, June 10, from 4 to 7 p.m., at the Morris Funeral Home, 45 North Main Street, Ipswich. Burial with military honors will be held in the Cowles Memorial Cemetery, 29 Town Farm Road, Ipswich. Rowley Rams defeated Hamilton Generals 4-3 thanks to a strong start. Rowley Rams scored on a single by Justin Bolla and a groundout by White in the first inning.

Pitchers Duel In Low-Scoring Affair, Hamilton Generals Falls to Rowley Rams

Both teams were strong on the pitcher's mound on Thursday, but Rowley Rams was just a little bit stronger at the plate in a victory over Hamilton Generals on Thursday. Ryan Hutchinson started the game for Hamilton Generals and recorded 12 outs.

Jake Baressi was the winning pitcher for Rowley Rams. The ace lasted seven innings, allowing four hits and zero runs while striking out nine and walking one. Martin threw one inning in relief out of the bullpen. Martin recorded the last three outs to earn the save for Rowley Rams.

Horgan Strong at the Plate as Hamilton Generals Defeats Rockport Townies

Four hits from Paul Horgan helped lead the way for Hamilton Generals over Rockport Townies 16-7 on Thursday. Horgan singled in the first, singled in the second, singled in the fourth, and singled in the fourth.
Rockport Townies scored four runs in the fourth inning, but Hamilton Generals still managed to pull out the victory. Rockport Townies big bats were led by Frew Rowen, Jack Sperry, and Nate Ferriero, who each had RBIs in the inning. 

Hamilton Generals opened up scoring in the second inning when Will Frain singled on a 1-0 count, scoring one run. Hamilton Generals took the lead for good with 12 runs in the fourth inning. In the fourth Harrison O'Brien singled on a 1-2 count, scoring two runs, Ryan Hutchinson lined out, driving in a run, Luke Mclintock singled on a 2-1 count, scoring three runs, Horgan singled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring one run, O'Brien singled on a 2-2 count, scoring one run, an error scored two runs for Hamilton Generals, and Aidan Cann homered on a 2-0 count, scoring two runs. 

Mclintock was the winning pitcher for Hamilton Generals. Mclintock surrendered four runs on two hits over one inning, striking out one. C Sullivan and Cann entered the game out of the bullpen and helped to close out the game in relief. Rowen took the loss for Rockport Townies. The pitcher surrendered seven runs on ten hits over three innings, striking out one. 

Hutchinson started the game for Hamilton Generals. The bulldog lasted three innings, allowing one hit and three runs while striking out four.  Hamilton Generals socked two home runs on the day. Hutchinson had a four bagger in the second inning. Cann went yard in the fourth inning. 

Hamilton Generals tallied 20 hits in the game. Cann, Horgan, Hutchinson, O'Brien, Larry Saggese, Chris Huggett, and Tobin Goldfield each collected multiple hits for Hamilton Generals. Horgan and Cann each managed four hits to lead Hamilton Generals.

Late Score Costs Rockport Townies Against Hamilton Generals

Rockport Townies lost the lead late in a 13-8 defeat to Hamilton Generals on Sunday. The game was tied at six with Hamilton Generals batting in the top of the fifth when Larry Saggese singled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring one run. 

Joe Muzio drove in five runners in the loss. Muzio drove in runs on a home run in the first, a single in the third, and a single in the fourth. Hamilton Generals got things moving in the first inning, when Aidan Cann singled on a 2-2 count, scoring two runs. Rockport Townies tallied three runs in the third inning. Muzio and Kyle Nelson each had RBIs in the frame. Carter Coffey was credited with the victory for Hamilton Generals. The hurler surrendered three runs on six hits over five innings, striking out seven.
Jack Engel took the loss for Rockport Townies. Engel surrendered seven runs on seven hits over two and two-thirds innings, striking out one.
