Horgan Strong at the Plate as Hamilton Generals Defeats Rockport Townies
Four hits from Paul Horgan helped lead the way for Hamilton Generals over Rockport Townies 16-7 on Thursday. Horgan singled in the first, singled in the second, singled in the fourth, and singled in the fourth.
Rockport Townies scored four runs in the fourth inning, but Hamilton Generals still managed to pull out the victory. Rockport Townies big bats were led by Frew Rowen, Jack Sperry, and Nate Ferriero, who each had RBIs in the inning.
Hamilton Generals opened up scoring in the second inning when Will Frain singled on a 1-0 count, scoring one run. Hamilton Generals took the lead for good with 12 runs in the fourth inning. In the fourth Harrison O'Brien singled on a 1-2 count, scoring two runs, Ryan Hutchinson lined out, driving in a run, Luke Mclintock singled on a 2-1 count, scoring three runs, Horgan singled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring one run, O'Brien singled on a 2-2 count, scoring one run, an error scored two runs for Hamilton Generals, and Aidan Cann homered on a 2-0 count, scoring two runs.
Mclintock was the winning pitcher for Hamilton Generals. Mclintock surrendered four runs on two hits over one inning, striking out one. C Sullivan and Cann entered the game out of the bullpen and helped to close out the game in relief. Rowen took the loss for Rockport Townies. The pitcher surrendered seven runs on ten hits over three innings, striking out one.
Hutchinson started the game for Hamilton Generals. The bulldog lasted three innings, allowing one hit and three runs while striking out four. Hamilton Generals socked two home runs on the day. Hutchinson had a four bagger in the second inning. Cann went yard in the fourth inning.
