The Manchester-Essex Mariners beat the Ipswich Chiefs 7 to 2 Tuesday. It was a 1 to 1 game into the third when the Mariners pulled ahead 4 to 1. The Chiefs threatened in the 5th with the bases loaded one out but Tommy Elliot came in to close the door after relieving starter Ryan Marques. The Mariners added a few more runs in the 5th on walks and James Mckenna had a rocket home run in the 6th. Mike Quill (Triple) and Caulin Rogers(two hits) both had good days at the plate. Cory Burnham and Kevin Carter had rbi hits.
Cavanaugh pitched well for the Chiefs, going 5 innings.
