Hamilton Generals Grabs Lead in Fifth Inning to Defeat Rowley Rams
Hamilton Generals defeated Rowley Rams 2-1 on Thursday after taking the lead late in the game, their second close game win over the Rams this week. The game was tied at one with Hamilton Generals batting in the bottom of the fifth when Nick Freni hit a solo homer.
The pitching was strong on both sides. Hamilton Generals pitchers struck out five, while Rowley Rams pitchers sat down eight. Rowley Rams got on the board in the first inning when Anthony Conte singled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring one run. Hamilton Generals knotted the game up at one in the bottom of the fourth inning. Sean Patrikas grounded out, scoring one run.
Hunter Willochoski earned the victory on the pitcher's mound for Hamilton Generals. The righty lasted six and two-thirds innings, allowing four hits and one run while striking out five. Carter Coffey threw one-third of an inning in relief out of the bullpen. Coffey recorded the last out to earn the save for Hamilton Generals.
Kyle Greenier took the loss for Rowley Rams. The pitcher went five innings, allowing two runs on six hits and striking out six. Hamilton Generals hit one home run on the day. Freni went deep in the fifth inning.
Freni went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead Hamilton Generals in hits. Hamilton Generals was sure-handed and didn't commit a single error. Luke Mclintock made the most plays with eight.
