Mariners 6 Giants 2

Rory Gentile; Peter Clark went deep, while Cory Burnham knocked a ball off the fence leading the Mariners to a 6 to 2 victory over the Beverly Giants. Marc Phinney picked up the win with 5 scoreless innings.

Early Lead For Man./Essex Mariners Seals Fate For Beverly Giants

Beverly Giants fell behind early and couldn't come back in a 6-2 loss to Man./Essex Mariners on Sunday. Man./Essex Mariners scored on a double by Adam Philpott in the first inning, a home run by Peter Clark in the second inning, and a home run by Rory Gentile in the second inning.

Man./Essex Mariners got things started in the first inning. Philpott doubled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring one run.  Man./Essex Mariners scored four runs in the second inning. Man./Essex Mariners big bats were led by Clark and Gentile, all knocking in runs in the inning.

Marc Phinney was the winning pitcher for Man./Essex Mariners. He went five innings, allowing zero runs on two hits and striking out five. Clark threw two innings in relief out of the bullpen.
Andy Brown took the loss for Beverly Giants. He lasted three innings, allowing six hits and five runs while striking out four.

Man./Essex Mariners tallied two home runs on the day. Gentile had a homer in the second inning. Clark went yard in the second inning. Brown went 2-for-4 at the plate to lead Beverly Giants in hits.
Philpott led Man./Essex Mariners with two hits in four at bats.
