Rockport Townies Walks Away the Victor After Tense Back-And-Forth Against Beverly Giants

Rockport Townies and Beverly Giants traded the lead back-and-forth on Friday, but eventually Rockport Townies prevailed 13-12. The game was tied at nine with Rockport Townies batting in the bottom of the fourth when Alex Webb singled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring one run.

Both pitching staffs had their hands full, frequently dealing with runners on base. Rockport Townies collected eight hits and Beverly Giants had eight. Rockport Townies took an early lead in the second inning. Conor Douglass doubled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring two runs.

Rockport Townies took the lead for good with four runs in the fourth inning. In the fourth an error scored one run for Rockport Townies and Jay Fulmer singled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring one run.  Beverly Giants scored four runs in the third inning. Beverly Giants's big inning was driven by singles by Gavin Sparkman and Anthony Morrissey and a sac fly by Brian Chirco.

Shawn Hull was the winning pitcher for Rockport Townies. He surrendered one run on three hits over two innings, striking out two and walking one. Jason Vizena and Dylan Maki entered the game out of the bullpen and helped to close out the game in relief. Maki recorded the last three outs to earn the save for Rockport Townies.

Matt Herlihy took the loss for Beverly Giants. He allowed three hits and six runs over three and two-thirds innings, striking out one.  Dan Patrazza started the game for Beverly Giants. He lasted two and a third innings, allowing five hits and seven runs while striking out one Marcus Cottone started the game for Rockport Townies. He allowed three hits and six runs over three innings, striking out two
Rockport Townies racked up eight hits on the day. Mike Emerson and Conor Ressel all managed multiple hits for Rockport Townies. Ressel and Emerson each collected two hits to lead Rockport Townies.

Beverly Giants totaled eight hits in the game. Luke McDonald and Sparkman all managed multiple hits for Beverly Giants.
