Hamilton bounced back from an ugly loss the previous night by defeating Rowley by a 7-4 score Thursday night at Patton Park. Matt Greeke went five innings for the win and Cam Charette pitched two perfect innings for the save. Greeke allowed just one run through the first four innings, but tired in the fifth due to his heavy early season workload. Moore took the loss for Rowley. Newall pitched two scoreless innings of relief.
Rowley scored an unearned run in the top of the first, but Hamilton answered with three in the bottom half. Back-to-back walks to Jimmy Parr and Jim Love started the game and Jim Maloney followed with an RBI single to left to tie the game. Mark Ruggiero would later add an RBI fielder's choice and Mike Chandler delivered a sacrifice fly. The Generals stretched the lead to 5-1 in the second. Austen Michel walked, Parr reached on an error and both came in to score on a Love two-run double to right. In the fourth, Maloney led off the inning with a walk and then Ruggiero got the pipes extended and deposited a two-run job into the willow tree.
The Rams got to Greeke in the fifth. After the leadoff man reached on an error. Conte walked and Dagastino delievered a RBI single. Koby Thibault then came through with a two-run single to cut the gap to 7-4, which would be the final score. Dagastino and Thibault had two hits apiece, as did Avon Stewart for Hamilton.
