Ipswich Chiefs Loses Lead Early in Defeat
Ipswich Chiefs fell behind early and couldn't come back in an 11-4 loss to Hamilton Generals on Monday. Hamilton Generals took the lead on a stolen base in the first inning. The Ipswich Chiefs struggled to contain the high-powered offense of Hamilton Generals, giving up 11 runs.
In the first inning, Hamilton Generals got their offense started. Hamilton Generals scored on a stolen base during Carter Coffey's at bat. Then Coffey singled. Ipswich Chiefs tallied three runs in the third inning. John O’Brien had an RBI ground-out in the inning to lead the run scoring.
Hamilton Generals scored five runs in the third inning. The offensive onslaught by Hamilton Generals was led by Paul Horgan, Harrison O'Brien, Coffey, Keegan O’Shea, and Neil Simmons, all driving in runs in the frame. Mark Roselli got the win for Hamilton Generals. The pitcher lasted five innings, allowing three hits and four runs while striking out seven.
Finn Maclennan took the loss for Ipswich Chiefs. The hurler went two and a third innings, allowing nine runs on three hits and striking out five. Evan Stein went 2-for-2 at the plate to lead Ipswich Chiefs in hits.
Horgan led Hamilton Generals with three stolen bases, as they ran wild on the base paths with seven stolen bases.
