Game 1 of the 2007 ITL Finals went to the Rockport Townies by the score of 9-5. It was a well fought game on both sides, both pitchers battling the entire way. Brent Currier went the distance for the Townies to record the win. Judd Funchion also pitched a great six innings, but the Townies got to him for one big inning that made the difference in the game.
The Generals got on the board first in the third inning. Mark Provost hit a solo HR to center for the game's first run. Jered Stewart followed with a long double to left. Bryan Vitale brought Stewart in on an RBI single giving the Generals a 2-0 lead.
In the bottom of the fourth the Townies tied the game at 2-2. Bouchie led off with a single, followed by a Brock Currier double into the trees. Jeremy Spittle then delivered a 2-RBI single down the third base line to tie the game. The Townies continued to roll as they poured it on in the fifth, sending 11 men to the plate. Adam Orlando hit a 2-Run HR into the center field trees. Justin Paradis also hit an RBI single. Anderson then added a 2-RBI single with the bases loaded, the Townies got one more on a Brent Currier hit. When the dust settled, the Townies took an 8-2 lead.
The Generals came right back with 3 runs in the sixth. Justin Tilley brought Jones home with a double into the trees. Reggie Maidment brought Tilley home on a single. Jim Maloney then scored Maidment with a double down the line making the score 8-5. The Generals couldn't get any closer as the Townies added an insurance run in the sixth. Currier retired the side in the seventh with some help of a game ending double play. No damage was done, and the Townies take game one. Game 2 is Sunday afternoon at Patton Park, 2pm start.
