In the bottom of the 7th inning the Topsfield Tories lead 6 to 3 with 2 outs and no one on base. Manchester-Essex got the comeback started on a Rory Gentile single to right. After a walk to Mike Cain, Adam Philpott ripped an RBI single that scored Gentile and advanced Cain to 3rd base. Philpott moved up to 2nd on an error by the left fielder as the ball skipped under his glove. Sean Desmond was then called to pinch run for Philpott.
The stage was set for Noah Aiello. With 2 strikes Aiello lined a ball up the middle scoring Cain and Desmond. The throw to the plate beat Desmond but during his slide the ball dislodged from the catcher's grasp allowing the Mariners to tie the game at 6.
The following batter, Ian Buckley, reached on a ball hit between 3rd and short, putting Aiello at 3rd base. Next up was Robbie Sarmanian, the ITL rookie hit a hard ball at the shortstop that ricocheted off his glove and allowed the winning run to score.
Topsfield batted around in the first inning, scoring 4 runs on 5 hits. Mariners starter Marc Phinney was able to settle in and allow just 2 runs over the next 5 innings. Dom Cirone picked up the win in relief. Zach Lampkin pitched a complete game for Topsfield.
