Rockport Townies Jumps Out to Early Lead in Victory Over Ipswich Chiefs

An early lead helped Rockport Townies defeat Ipswich Chiefs 7-4 on Sunday. Rockport Townies scored on a single by Keady Segel in the first inning, a error in the first inning, a walk in the second inning, and a single by Segel in the second inning. 

Ipswich Chiefs scored three runs in the third inning, but Rockport Townies still managed to pull out the victory. The big inning for Ipswich Chiefs came thanks to a double by Greg Doucette and a triple by Dave Moore. Ipswich Chiefs captured the lead in the first inning. With two outs in the first inning Doucette drove in one run when he singled. 


Rockport Townies took the lead for good with three runs in the first inning. In the first Keady Segel singled off of Andrew Carbone, driving in one run and there was an error, scoring two runs.
Rockport Townies scored three runs in the second inning. The big inning was thanks to a walk and a single by Segel.  Ipswich Chiefs scored three runs in the third inning. Ipswich Chiefs's big inning was driven by a double by Doucette and a triple by Moore. 


Derek Osmond earned the win for Rockport Townies. He threw six innings, giving up four runs, ten hits, striking out three, and walking one. Carbone took the loss for Ipswich Chiefs. He pitched six innings, giving up seven runs, nine hits, and striking out two. 


Rockport Townies collected nine hits. Alex Webb, Segel, and Reese Fulmer each collected multiple hits for Rockport Townies. Fulmer, Segel, and Webb all had two hits to lead Rockport Townies. Rockport Townies was sure-handed and didn't commit a single error. Segel made the most plays with seven.  Ipswich Chiefs had ten hits in the game. Doucette and Jake Greaney each collected multiple hits for Ipswich Chiefs.
