The visiting Beverly Giants improved to 4-0 with an 8-3 win over Man/Essex. The Mariners got on the board first with a Bryan Lafata homerun in the bottom of the 1st inning to give Man/Essex a 1-0 lead. Kevin Harutunian (1 for 4, HR, 3RBI) then connected for a 3 run homer in the bottom of the 3rd, his 1st of the season to give Beverly a 3-1 lead. With the score 3-2 after 4, Beverly exploded for 5 runs on 5 hits in the fifth inning. Andy Hobin (2 for 3) started it with a double to lead off the inning. The next two men were retired, but Nick Adams singled, Derek Scialdone doubled, and Mike Freni singled knocking in 2 runs to set up Pat Doyle's 2 run homer, his 2nd on the year, giving Beverly the 8-2 lead. The Mariners scratched a run across in the 7th to give us an 8-3 final score.
