Generals Even Series with 14-6 Win Over Mariners

Jeff Jensen pitched a complete game to earn the win for the Generals. The win ties the series at one game apiece in the best of three series. The two teams will face off Wednesday night with a trip to the ITL finals on the line. The Generals' bats came alive tonight at Patton as the team recorded six Home Runs, giving Jensen plenty to work with on the mound.

The Generals scored three in the first, back-to-back walks to start the game set the scene as Jim Maloney followed with a three run HR into the willow. Cain answered in the top of the second with a two run shot to make the score 3-2.

In the bottom half the Generals got back-to-back HR's to start the inning from O'Leary and Tilley. With two outs the home team managed to keep the rally going. Maloney and Vitale each got 2-out 2-run HR's to make the score 9-2 after two.

MacFarland got a sac-fly in the fourth to make the score 11-3 Generals. Jered Stewart lengthened the lead in the bottom of the fifth with a 3-run HR. In the sixth the Mariners got three on RBI hits from MacFarland and Gentile. Jensen was able to shut the door and get the final out. The game was called in the sixth due to darkness. Generals came out on top 14-6.

Maloney (2 HR, 5 RBI) and Stewart (HR, 4 RBI) led the way for the Generals offensively. Provost and O'Leary also added multi-hit games. Cain (3H, HR, 2 RBI) and MacFarland (2 RBI) stood out for the Mariners. The two teams meet again this Wednesday night in Essex to decide who will go the the Finals. 5:30pm start time.
