Townies Advance to the ITL Finals

The Rockport Townies came back from a 7-3 deficit in the bottom of the 7th inning to win 9-7 and take the series 2 games to none. Brock Currier's three run homer into the woods in right center provided all the dramatics and gave the Townies a return trip to the ITL Finals.

The Rowley Rams jumped out to an early 1-0 lead as Conte walked and scored on an infield error. In the 2nd inning, Rams scored three more thanks in part to singles by Espositio, Ligouri, Moore and a double by Renzulli. In the bottom of the 2nd, Rockport scratched two runs across the board on walks to Spittle and M.Emerson, followed by a double to deep center by Ty Watkins and a sac fly by Osmond.

In the 4th inning, the Townies closed to within one run as M.Emerson reached on a FC, stole 2B and scored an Osmond single. In the 5th, the Rams added a run to make it 5-3 on a Ligouri sac fly to score Bolla who reached on a single to begin the 5th. In the bottom of the 5th, the Townies threatened with the bases loaded and one out but could not capitalize as the Rams got out of the jam.

In the 6th inning, Rams added another on a Renzulli single and Mariani triple to make it 6-3. Then, in the top of the 7th, the Rams added another run on a Vigliotti walk, Esposito double and Ligouri sac fly to increase the Ram lead to 7-3.

In the bottom of the 7th, the Townies plated six runs, all with two outs. It began with a Greel single, followed by a Ressel single, then Robertson grounded out to second. Spittle managed a walk to load the bases with one out. Emerson popped up to the second and the Rams were now one out away from tying up the series at one game apiece. However, Watkins worked a walk and Osmond doubled to get it within one run (7-6) with two outs. With runners at 2B and 3B, Brock Currier stepped up to the plate and smoked a liner into the woods in right center to cap off a dramatic 9-7 Townies win.

Townies advance to the Finals to face the winner of tomorrow's game between Manchester and Hamilton.
