With the score tied 1 to 1 in the top of the 8th inning Beverly's Derek Scialdone hit a 2 run homer to give the Giants the go ahead runs they would need to outlast the Ipswich Chiefs. Scialdone came out of retirement just prior to the game in order to give Beverly 9 players. It was his first game since 2012 and first home run since 2011.
Josh Levesque was superb on the mound tossing 8 innings of 1 run ball for the win. Levesque also added an RBI double in the first inning.
For Ipswich, Chris Lane started but had to exit after 2 innings with an injury. Lane allowed 1 run. Rich pitched well in relief only allowing 2 runs over 6 innings but took the loss.
