Matt Cain pitched a complete game allowing 5 runs while striking out 4 while leading the Mariners (9-8) to a big victory over the Giants (8-10). Cain also hit a two run homer as part of a 5 run first inning that gave Manchester a lead they would hold all day.

Buckley (2 for 3, HR, 2B, 5RBI) and Gentile (4 for 5, HR, 2RBI) also contributed to the offensive explosion.

For Beverly, Jeff Giannino was 3 for 3 with a double, triple, and 3RBI. Martin Gomez pitched excellent relief allowing just 1 unearned run over 4 innings before tiring in the 6th. Gomez totaled 4 1/3 innings, 4 runs, 3 earned, 4 strikeouts.
