Ipswich Chiefs Eke Out Eight Hits, Not Enough To Best Rockport Townies

Even though Ipswich Chiefs collected eight hits to Rockport Townies's six, they still fell 5-3 on Thursday.  Rockport Townies opened up scoring in the first inning, when Kyle Nelson singled on a 2-2 count, scoring one run.

Ipswich Chiefs knotted the game up at two in the bottom of the second inning, when Sam Blizard singled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring one run.

Rockport Townies pulled away for good with two runs in the third inning. In the third an error scored one run for Rockport Townies.  Marcus Cottone was the winning pitcher for Rockport Townies. He went six innings, allowing three runs on eight hits, striking out six and walking one. Dylan Maki threw one inning in relief out of the bullpen. Caleb Comeau took the loss for Ipswich Chiefs. He went six innings, allowing four runs on four hits and striking out seven.

Ipswich Chiefs launched one home run on the day. Dave Moore had a four bagger in the sixth inning.
Ipswich Chiefs tallied eight hits in the game. Blizard and Jeff Doucette all had multiple hits for Ipswich Chiefs. Doucette and Blizard each collected two hits to lead Ipswich Chiefs.

Nelson went 2-for-4 at the plate to lead Rockport Townies in hits. Rockport Townies didn't commit a single error in the field. Caleb Tanson had the most chances in the field with nine. Rockport Townies tore up the base paths, as two players stole at least two bases. Mike Emerson led the way with two.
