The Beverly Giants (4-6) beat the first place Ipswich Chiefs (6-2) by the score of 9 to 0 Friday night at Linebrook Field. The Giants outhit the Chiefs 15 to 3. Giants' pitcher Luke Deschamps was dominant allowing just 2 hits and 1 walk over 6 innings of shutout ball to earn the win.
Beverly scored 4 runs in the 2nd inning, 4 more in the 5th, and 1 in the 6th. Derek Scialdone had a homerun. Jeff Giannino singled, doubled, and tripled. Brian Chirco, Martin Gomez and Alex Manzi each contributed 3 hits.
The two teams meet again Sunday at Cooney Field in Beverly.
