Judd Funchion picked up the win for the Generals, and looked good in the process. Funchion pitched 6 innings, allowing only 3 hits, 2 runs, and 1 walk while striking out 5. The two runs came in the top of the first inning as Renzuli took a pitch to left center for a 2-run HR. The Rams couldn't get anything else as they took their first loss of the season. The Generals bounced right back in the bottom of the first with 4 runs on a Jones sac fly, and a two out 2-RBI single from Justin Tilley. The Generals scored 9 in the sixth, all with 2 outs, to put the game out of reach. Jeff Jensen highlighted the attack with a nice RBI double. Mark Provost had 2 hits, and Jered Stewart added 3 to lead the Generals offense. Ryan Weaver pitched the 7th for the Generals, his ITL pitching debut. C. Wile picked up the loss for Rowley, he struck out 3 but hit 6 batters. A special thanks to Mr. & Mrs. Maidment who provided hamburgers and hot dogs for fans and players. It certainly added to the summer baseball experience.
The Generals travel to Ipswich Monday, and the Rams travel to Rockport for a double-header this Sunday.
