Chris Lane pitched 6 dazzling innings surrendering only one hit as the Ipswich Chiefs beat the Hamilton Generals 6-1. Lane benefited from some nifty infield defense as the few well hit Hamilton balls were gobbled up by the Chiefs. The Generals threatened a few times but Lane seemed to always find the answer. His only mistake was a solo HR by Jered Stewart in the sixth. At that point the game was well in hand and the Chiefs cruised to a 6-1 victory.
Rick Sitoropolous led off the game with a HR for Ipswich, Hernandez added a RBI on a fielder's choice pushing the lead to 2-0 after one. Dave Shoreman delivered a bases loaded double scoring 2 more in the second. A third run was cut down at the plate on the play.
The Chiefs scored 6 total in the first 3 innings and didn't look back. Lane gave way to Doucette in the 7th to finish the Generals off. Jensen got the loss going 3 innings, Lane got the win. Ipswich hosts Beverly tonight, the Generals host Beverly next tuesday for their next game.
