The Manchester Mariners (8-5-1) beat the Beverly Giants (7-6-1) behind the pitching of Jack Brancaleone. Brancaleone allowed just 1 run over 5 innings while striking out 4 to earn the victory. Gibbon and Cain each pitched scoreless innings in relief.
Manchester scored 4 runs in the 2nd and it was all they would need. Ricky Bettencourt led the offense going 3 for 3 with a steal and 2 runs scored. Goodhue was 1 for 2 with 3RBI. Cain added a 2 run double.
Rocky Pisa took the loss for Beverly allowing 7 runs (6 earned) over 5 innings. Kyle Sewyck pitched a scoreless 6th in relief. John Boyle was 2 for 3 on the night. Kevin Harutunian was 1 for 2 with 2 steals and scored Beverly's only run.
Beverly travels to Rockport Friday night and then hosts Manchester on Sunday.
