Intertown Twilight League: Beverly 4, Manchester 4
Beverly and Manchester were fit to be tied in Intertown Twilight League action Thursday night, battling to a 4-4 stalemate.
Trailing 4-2 with two outs and nobody on, the Manchester Mariners (10-4-2) staged a seventh inning rally capped by Mike MacFarland’s RBI single. The slugger ended the evening going 3-for-4 with two RBI.
One extra frame was played, before play was called following a scoreless inning.
The game was a pitcher’s duel for most of the night with Beverly’s Joe Gilll locking horns with Manchester hurler Mike Gibbon. Gill threw six solid innings, scattering five hits, two walks and two runs, while striking out five. Gibbon tossed six innings, surrendering nine hits, a walk and four runs, while faning six.
The Beverly Giants (5-9-1) offense was paced by Erik Drown (3-for-4), Kevin Harutunian (3-for-4, 2 SB), and John Boyle (1-for-4, HR, 3RBI).
