Rams' Sloban Pitches No Hitter, Rowley wins 7-1
Mike Sloban of the Rowley Rams no hit the Beverly Giants tonight at Eiras Field. Sloban(7IP, 0H, 3BB, 5K's) was outstanding, retiring the first 7 batters of the game before issuing the first of 3 walks on the night. Gill started for Beverly and was up to the challenge as the game entered the bottom of the 5th at 2-1 Rowley, the Rams were able to push across 5 in the bottom of the 5th and gave Sloban some breathing room. For the Rams offense Conte, Bolla and Moore all had multi hit games. The no hitter was not without a bit of controversy as the Rowley scorebook had ruled an error on the 2B back in the 3rd inning while Beverly had listed it as a hit. Regardless of which side you come down on it was an impressive outing for Mike, who had been a tough luck pitcher all season and earned his first ITL win tonight. Rowley is back at it tomorrow at Eiras against Rockport while Beverly is off until Friday when they host the Rams in a makeup game.
