Chiefs win 12-8 and split season series with Townies

Ipswich Chiefs got another strong pitching performance yesterday from Kevin Michael leading the team to a 12-8 victory. After giving up two runs in the first, Michael settled down scattering 4 more earned runs over the next 6 innings mixing in 8 strikeouts for the complete game win. The Chiefs offense was well balanced scoring runs in five of the seven innings with hits from throughout the lineup leading to the 12 runs . Montecalvo led the offense (3-4, 2B, 5 RBI) with Mark O'Flynn and Kevin Micheal chipping in two hits each as well.

Rockport spread out their pitching using four different pitchers throughout the game and as typical with Rockport, they did not make it easy for the Chiefs fighting back and keeping things close right to the end. A two run homer by Osmond in the 6th made it 11-7 and then two runners were left on base in the seventh before Ipswich finally closed it out.

The Chiefs are looking to keep things going with a home and home against Beverly on Friday and Sunday. Hopefully Friday will stay under 100 degrees!
