The Beverly Giants (2-5) broke a five game losing streak with a win over the Hamilton Generals (2-5). Jason Boaman won his first ITL starts allowing 2 runs (1 earned) over 5+ innings of work. Tom Carr pitched two scoreless innings in relief.
The Giants offense came courtesy of three homers. Two came off the bat of John Boyle (2 for 4, 2HR, 2R, 5RBI) and one from Jeff Barricelli (3 for 4, HR, 3R, 3RBI). Nick Adams, Mike Freni, Derek Scialdone, and Bill Boccuzzi all added 2 hits apiece.
Tom Jones and Reggie Maidment each had two hits for Hamilton. Judd Funchion took the loss allowing 10 runs over 5+ innings.
The two teams meet again Tuesday night in Hamilton.
Injury News: Beverly's Pat Doyle left the game with a knee injury after chasing down a flyball in left field. The exact nature of the injury is unknown but we'll find out more after Pat visits an orthopedist tomorrow. We all wish Pat the best.
INJURY UPDATE 6/15: Pat suffered an MCL strain, not a torn ligament as originally feared. He'll miss at least 2 weeks, but this is very good news for Pat and the Giants.
