Mariners beat Genearls 6-4 in 8 innings

The M/E Mariners pulled out a comeback extra-innings win against the Hamilton Generals last night at Patton Park. Marques picked up the win in relief while Drinkwater suffered the loss. Neither starting pitcher, Stout & Jackson, figured in the decision.

The Generals took a 4-0 lead after three innings. With two out and two on in the bottom of the third, Jered Stewart delivered a RBI single. Vitale followed by clearing the bases with a 3-Run HR into the pond.

The Mariners struck back with 2 in the top of the fourth. Bertolino had a RBI single and Buckley got a bases loaded HBP to bring in the other run. Down 2 in the sixth, Cain tied the game with a monster 2-Run HR high into the willow tree in left. The Mariners completed the comeback with 2 more in the eighth. Lafata and Bertolino started the inning with singles. The Orlando bunt induced a throwing error that allowed Lafata to score from second. Bertolino was thrown out at home on the play trying to score from first. With in infield in, Cain got another RBI single to finish out the scoring. The Generals couldn't get anything off Marques in the bottom half. Mariners improve to 9-1 on the season where the Generals drop to 3-6.
