Each team did all their scoring in one inning as the Beverly Giants edged the Rowley Rams Tuesday night at Eiras Park. Beverly broke the scoreless tie by plating 6 runs in the top of the 4th inning. The inning was keyed by two run singles from Brian Chirco, Pat Wilson, and Andy Brown.
Rowley struck back with 5 runs of their own in the bottom of the 5th inning. Justin Bolla's bases clearing 3 run double was the big blow of the inning. But, Beverly's Dan Cashman bore down and got out of the jam with the Giants holding a slim one run lead. Cashman retired 6 of the final 7 batters to give the Giants the victory.
Cashman pitched a complete game allowing 5 unearned runs on 6 hits and 4 walks while striking out 7. Offensively, Beverly's Andy Brown finished 2 for 4 with 2RBI.
For Rowley, Tim Moore took the loss allowing 6 runs (2 earned) in 6 innings on 7 hits and 0 walks with 4 strikeouts. CJ Ingraham was 2 for 4 with a run scored.
