Drew Taylor drove in the go-ahead run to give ITL Hamilton Generals the lead in the sixth inning, as ITL Hamilton Generals hung on to beat the Beverly Giants 5-2 on Tuesday.
With the score tied at two in the sixth inning, Taylor came to the plate and singled, bringing home Avon Stewart. It was a good day at the plate for the Generals' Taylor. Taylor went 3-4, drove in one and scored one run.
Matt Greeke pitched lights out for ITL Hamilton Generals. Greeke held the Beverly Giants hitless over two innings, allowed no earned runs, walked three and struck out three.
A bright spot for the Giants in the defeat was Dan Cashman, who allowed only one run while striking out five. Eric Messina was the game's losing pitcher. He lasted just one inning, walked two, struck out one, and allowed four runs.
The top of the second saw the Giants take an early lead, 1-0. Conor Walsh started the rally for the Giants with a single. A groundout by Josh Levesque then moved Conor Walsh from first to second. Brian Chirco singled, plating Conor Walsh.
It didn't take long for Hamilton to answer as it scored one run of its own in the fifth. Hamilton scored on an RBI single by Austen Michel.
The Generals didn't give up the lead after the sixth inning. Additional runs came from a two-run single by Luke Wendt.
