Rockport Townies Stays Scrappy In Loss To Hamilton Generals

Despite a 4-run deficit in the second inning, Rockport Townies almost came all the way back, eventually falling 8-7 to Hamilton Generals on Monday. Rockport Townies scored four runs in the failed comeback on a double by Kyle Nelson in the third, a walk by Dylan Maki in the fourth, and a single by Keady Segel in the fourth.

Rockport Townies was right in it until Hamilton Generals in the sixth inning.  Hamilton Generals opened up scoring in the first inning, when Larry Saggese singled on a 3-2 count, scoring one run.

Rockport Townies evened things up at seven in the bottom of the fourth inning. Rockport Townies scored two runs when Segel singled.  Rockport Townies put up three runs in the fourth inning. Rockport Townies's big bats in the inning were led by a single by Segel and by Maki.

Sal Guarino was the winning pitcher for Hamilton Generals. He surrendered zero runs on one hit over three innings, striking out one and walking zero.  Maki took the loss for Rockport Townies. He surrendered zero runs on zero hits over two innings, striking out five.

Phil Durgin started the game for Hamilton Generals. He allowed five hits and seven runs over four innings, striking out three.  Rockport Townies totaled six hits in the game. Segel and Nelson each collected multiple hits for Rockport Townies. Nelson and Segel each managed two hits to lead Rockport Townies.

Hamilton Generals collected 13 hits on the day. Saggese and Harrison O'Brien all collected multiple hits for Hamilton Generals.
