Jeff Jensen went six strong innings for the Generals on a soggy night at Patton Park. Jensen allowed only one run while scattering 6 hits, and 1 BB. Kevin Michael was charged with the loss for the Chiefs. Cam Charette made his ITL debut for the Generals pitching one inning, allowing no hits and 1 BB. The win makes three in a row for the Generals who have benefited from some timely hitting lately.
The Generals got right on the board in the bottom of the first inning. Maloney led off with a double followed by a Provost 2-run HR to left. The score remained 2-0 until the fourth where the Generals put up 5 more. O'Leary led off the fifth with a double to get things started, followed by a Tilley BB. A little small ball and a fielder's choice brought home the first two. Provost got an RBI double, and Jered Stewart launched a 2-run HR into the pond to round out the inning.
The Chiefs scored in the top of the sixth. With two out Tom Radzim got a double and was brought home on a Michael single. Bodwell followed with a long double (back from retirement) that would have scored Michael from first in had not bounced over the fence. Jensen was able to settle down and record the final out, stifling the Chief's threat. In the sixth the Generals got two more. Jim Love scored on a bases loaded HBP, and Connor Sullivan got a sac-fly scoring Provost.
The Generals now face a big stretch with 4 games next week. The first is a Father's Day matchup in Beverly (5pm) start. Ipswich also plays on Father's Day in Rockport (6pm).
