Ipswich salvaged a split of the series yesterday evening with a home win against Rockport. Chris Lane started the game for the Chiefs giving them two strong scoreless innings. The solid pitching continued when Tyler Hammond came in for his first appearance of the season, giving the chiefs 4 great innings, surrendering only 3 runs on 5 hits, while striking out 5. Kevin Michael came in to close the game out pitching a scoreless 7th, although Rockport did not make it easy as they left the bases loaded to end the game.
The chiefs offense was paced by Ant Hernadez who continued his hot streak with two more hits and Rick Sotiropoulos chipped in two hits as well, but solo home runs by Tom Radzim (1-1, HR, BB, 2RBIs) and James Lampropoulos put the Chiefs ahead for good. Rockport's pitcher, Osmond, scattered 5 runs over 6 innings and was stuck with a tough loss on a good pitching performance. Rockport's offense was led by Anderson and Brent Currier who each had two hits each.
The Chiefs play next on a rare Friday night home game with their first match up against Beverly this year.
