The Generals pulled out a nice win against the Tories on Thursday night. The game got underway a bit late because of the rain, but moved very quickly after that as all the pitchers were attacking the strike zone. Mike Drinkwater and Jeff Jensen combined for the shut out win for the Generals. Jensen pitched 6 innings allowing only two hits, 1 BB, and recording 6 K's.
The Generals got off to a fast start with 3 straight hits. Love & Tilley got singles that were followed by a Maloney RBI double and a J. Stewart sac-fly. The score stayed 2-0 until the bottom of the 6th where the Generals were able to add two insurance runs. Connor Sullivan got an RBI double and Mark Ruggiero added another sac-fly to give the Generals a bit of a cushion heading in to the final inning. Jensen retired the side in order in the seventh to end the game. Jim Love led the way for the Generals with two hits. Hatfield had two hits for the Tories to pace their offense. The two teams meet again Friday in Topsfield.
