Generals top Mariners 6-4

Mike Drinkwater pitched a complete game to earn the victory for the Generals allowing only 4 runs, 8 hits, and recording 7 k's. Bell started for the Mariners and was charged with the loss in four innings of work.

The Generals got on the board first in the top of first after completing a successful double steal. The Mariners stormed back in the bottom half with 3 runs to take the lead. The Mariners started the game with 3 consecutive singles. Cain delivered a sac-fly, and was followed by a 2-run Maki double off the left field fence. The score remained 3-1 until the fourth inning where the Generals got 5 runs.

Jim Love recorded an RBI FC to break the ice. Jered Stewart then delivered a two out RBI single to keep the inning alive, which was followed by a Bryan Vitale 3-run HR. The Mariners got another in the sixth to close the gap to 6-4 on back-to-back doubles from Maki and Buckley. In the seventh the Mariners got runners on second and third to make things interesting, but Drinkwater was able to shut the door and record a strikeout to end the game and earn the complete game victory.

The two teams meet again Thursday at Patton Park.
