The Hamilton Generals got the win Wednesday night in Rowley over the Rams 9-6 in 8 innings. Steve Kefalas picked up the win in relief in his ITL debut. Luke Painchaud pitched 5 strong innings for the Generals but did not figure in the decision. Martin was equally good on the mound for the Rams but did not get a decision as well. White was charged with the loss.
The Rams took an early lead in the first. Renzulli brought home Conte with a RBI single to take a 1-0 lead. The Generals turned an unorthodox double play to get out of the inning. In the third, the Rams pushed the lead to 3-0 with 2 more runs. Conte delivered an RBI double that was followed by a Bolla long RBI single. Bolla's hit threatened more runs, but the Generals were able to cut a runner down at the plate to minimize the damage.
The Generals got one back in the fourth on a Tilley RBI single then later tied the game with 2 runs in the fifth. Bryan Vitale delivered a 2-RBI double to tie the game. The Generals took the lead in the 6th with 3 more runs. Maloney, J. Stewart, and Kefalas all got RBI's. Down 3, it was now the Rams turn to make a comeback. They got 1 back in the 6th on a Thibeault RBI single, and 2 in the bottom of 7th to tie the game. The Rams worked the bases loaded with no outs. Esposito delivered some heroics with a 2-RBI single to tie the game. With 2 on still and no outs, Kefalas worked out of the jam recording 2 k's and a pop-up. With darkness setting in, both teams lobbied for an extra frame to decide the game.
In the eighth inning the Generals loaded the bases with 3 BB's. Andre Painchaud then delivered an RBI single to break the tie. Justin Tilley followed with a 2-RBI double to add some breathing room. The the bottom half the Rams worked a first and third with only one out. Kefalas and Vitale were able to work a strike-em-out throw-em-out to end the game and secure the Generals win. The two teams play again tonight at Patton Park (weather permitting). Bolla had 2 hits, and Conte and Renzulli added 3 each to lead the Rams offense. Maloney, Kefalas, and Tilley had mulit-hit games for the Generals.
